Each gear includes the plastic gear sprocket, metal shaft, and a set screw that holds them together.
The teeth on these gears are prone to breaking, especially after a crash, when little bits of debris get thrown up in the gear housing. If you have a blade that won't spin, or that seems to catch sometimes, it's likely you just need a new gear.
It is important that you do two things after replacing the gears in any drone. First, be sure and add an appropriate gear oil to the new gear. You should oil all of your gears a few times a year, but DO NOT over oil your drone. Excess oil will drip down into the electronics, splash onto the arms and blades, and cause even more dust and debris to accumulate, as it sticks to the oil. The second thing is that, once you have replaced the gear, you should properly break it in before resuming normal use. To do this, turn on the drone and start the blades, but without taking off. After a short while, the blades will stop on their own. Repeat this process several times. Next, take the drone outside and launch it a few feet off the ground, and allow it to simply hover for several minutes. Land the drone, and inspect the gear just to make sure everything looks correct and in place. Now the gear is properly broken in, and it's time to get back to flying!
